Backstory

It started with a mix of curiosity and real-world frustration. Fascinated by the latest developments in AI, my friend Taku and I were excited to learn more about LLMs — as young software developers, we wanted to build something real, something useful, something fun.

Tackling expat life in Berlin, Taku stumbled upon the perfect challenge: German recycling rules! It was far from trivial — proper waste sorting can save resources and protect the environment. But how do we know we're doing it right? What are the local guidelines? Where do we even find them?

What if we could just photograph a product and instantly find out how to dispose of it properly? That's how the journey began.
